It’s that time of year again when everyone (or just us bloggers) start getting stupidly excited about autumn. Autumn is 100% my favourite time of the year. Everyone thinks I’m crazy in the summer when I’m saying how excited I am for autumn. But let’s be honest, here in the UK do we ever really have a proper summer? There are numerous things that spring to mind when I think of autumn, most of which I have included in this post. The nights are getting colder and darker which means more cosy nights in under a blanket watching the TV. It also means berry lips, all the hot drinks and pumpkin spiced everything.
The makeup trend I absolutely adore at autumn time is dark berry toned lips. I always think a classic red is just as good, maybe even an ever-so-slightly deeper tone than usual. When the weather gets cooler I tend to move away from the light nudes and into the deeper tones, and this MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lip colour in ‘High Drama’ is perfect for that. I also absolutely love the NYX shade ‘copenhagen’. MAC is amazing for lipsticks all year round because they have the most insane range of shades. ‘Diva’ is a lovely intense reddish/burgundy shade that would be lovely in the daytime, and ‘Media’ is much darker and more vampy, so great for evening wear. The Kiko Cosmetics Intensely Lavish Lipsticks from the Rebel Romantic collection are also perfect for this time of year too, gorgeous and classic shades.
I find myself wearing more shimmer in my eyeshadows at this time of the year too. The shades in the MAC Cosmetics Warm Neutrals palette are so pretty and great for creating a shimmery smokey eye. The 35O palette from Morphe is stunning too, the warm shimmery shades are stunning and they complement each other beautifully.
HOT DRINKS! As someone who doesn’t drink coffee and relies solely on hot chocolate and flavoured tea, I feel like this is the time of year where I fit in. There are many options for flavoured teas around autumn time and of course the pumpkin spice makes an appearance and my goodness does it taste good. Bluebird Tea Company do this amazing loose tea which I totally recommend you to try. I’ve honestly never tasted anything like it. Even writing about it is causing my mouth to salivate, I need another cup of it immediately.
And last but by no means least, cosy nights in with friends and family where you end up snacking on all the chocolate you can find in the house. If I had the choice of staying in and watching films or going out, the cosy night in will always win hands down. I know, I’m such a grandma. I would much rather change into my comfy clothes and have a pamper night watching films with a hot chocolate and my cosy socks. Of course these types of evenings are a lot better in autumn as you can switch on the fairy lights and burn your spice scented candles. In fact, you’ll catch me burning cosy candles from around the end of August in pure anticipation of the cooler months. I know, I’m so lame. Let’s face it though, there is nothing more satisfying than relaxing with a gorgeous candle flickering away beside you when it’s dark and gloomy outside.
