Positivity is an outlook on life which implies you’ve chosen to be more content. Having a positive attitude and outlook will improve the way you view different situations. This state of mind will help you get through anger, stress and sadness.
1. REMEMBER THAT LIFE ISN’T PERFECT
You need to remember that no one’s life is perfect before you can work on improving your outlook. You need to remember that tomorrow is just another day. Positivity isn’t about being oblivious and ignoring everything that’s going on around you, it’s about spreading optimism. Being cooped up inside all day or going to work then coming straight home everyday isn’t healthy and can make you feel physically and mentally trapped. Why not meet up with friends or family or even go for a walk or jog by yourself? You’ll be surprised how much better you will feel!
2. REMOVE ALL NEGATIVITY
If you dislike your job, have bad ‘friends’ or in an unhappy relationship, you need to change it. You can try to solve the problem by discussing how you’re feeling or if you feel certain that this can’t be fixed, you have to ignore them and be strong about it. Believe me, you need to take action. A weight will be lifted.
3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY
This doesn’t mean just positive people. Watch a heart warming film, listen to a happy song or even just read through some positive quotes and it can make you feel great about everything! Trying to block out the bad and talking about positive things will become more and more natural as time goes on. If you find yourself thinking about anything negative, try to distract yourself with something that makes you happy.
4. GET A HOBBY
Find something you are interested in. Create a blog, start to draw, bake cakes. Anything that will make you feel content is worth doing and everything is worth trying.
5. BE HEALTHY
This seems to be my solution for everything but eating healthy and exercising regularly really do contribute towards making you feel better about yourself. Your body releases endorphins that make you feel good mentally, and you will start feeling good physically too! It’s best to work out in the morning, it will make you feel more energetic throughout the day as opposed to doing it when you’re tired in the evenings.
6. IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD
This is something I have recently started to live by. Unless someone is going to really suffer, don’t worry about it. Almost any situation can be fixed and mistakes are made to be learnt from! I know it’s easier said than done but if you’re in this mindset, you will eventually start to realise that everyone makes mistakes.
7. TAKE A BREAK FROM ALL SOCIAL MEDIA
Everyone needs this every so often. Remove social media from your life for a week or so and you will notice a difference. It will encourage you to focus on what is around you, what you enjoy outside of the world of Twitter and Facebook, and prevent any negativity getting in the way of your positive mindset. If you don’t feel like this is a possibility to you, it may be a good idea to remove those bad apples who are constantly negative on your feeds.
8. DO A GOOD DEED
Treating a friend to coffee, giving money to a homeless person or just helping someone in any way can do wonders to your mood! You will feel great knowing that you have made someone smile.
9. YOU ARE YOUR OWN PERSON
You can achieve anything you want to if you really try. You have your own unique talents, and should be happy with what you have become. With positive thinking I have been able to become a happier person and you can do it too! You can accomplish your dreams.
10. HAVE SOME TIME TO YOURSELF
You deserve to take some time out to do what you love. If you can’t be happy alone, you’ll never be happy with someone else. I think having some alone time is a great opportunity to gather your thoughts and have a little daydream. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting some time alone to unwind and enjoy your own company.
If you have any of your own tips on keeping positive, let me know! I would love to hear them.
